Saint Thomas the Apostle Black Coffee Mug

The Holy Apostle Thomas, called Didymus meaning the Twin, is one of the twelve apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, remembered above all for his honest struggle with doubt and his glorious confession of faith upon encountering the Risen Christ. When the other apostles told him they had seen the Lord, Thomas declared that he would not believe unless he saw and touched the wounds himself. Eight days later Christ appeared again and invited Thomas to do exactly that, upon which Thomas fell before Him and proclaimed My Lord and my God, the most explicit confession of Christ's divinity in all of the Gospels. After Pentecost Thomas preached the Gospel in Parthia, Persia and above all in India, where he founded what became one of the oldest Christian communities in the world, the Saint Thomas Christians of Kerala who trace their origin directly to him. He was martyred by spear in India around 72 AD. His feast day is celebrated in October.
