Our Story

England was once Orthodox.

Before the Great Schism, before the Norman Conquest, these islands were home to saints whose names still echo through the centuries. Cuthbert, Oswald, Bede, Alban. The faith that shaped the early English Church was the same undivided faith that shaped Constantinople, Alexandria, and Antioch. Orthodoxy is not foreign to these shores. It was here long before it was forgotten.

Today, something remarkable is happening. In parishes across Britain, in quiet churches and converted halls, in communities that began with a handful of families from Serbia, Greece, Russia and Romania, the ancient faith is alive again. A growing number of people born in the West are finding their way to Orthodoxy, drawn by its depth, its beauty, and its unbroken connection to the early Church. And those who came from Orthodox lands are keeping the flame burning, raising their children in the faith, and welcoming their neighbours into the warmth of the Divine Liturgy.

The Orthodox Market began close to home, in Wallasey in the North West of England, where our parish community has been a source of profound joy, love and spiritual life. It is from this community that this store draws its heart. The generosity, the warmth, and the dedication of Orthodox Christians living and worshipping in the West reminded us that faith expressed in daily life matters deeply.

Every product in this store is an attempt to carry that presence beyond the church walls, into kitchens, into offices, and into the quiet moments of an ordinary day.

A portion of the proceeds from all monastic products sold goes directly to the work of the Church. When you purchase from our monastic range, you are not just buying a product. You are participating in something larger.
