Saint Spyridon of Trimythous Coffee Mug

Saint Spyridon of Trimythous is one of the most beloved and wonder-working saints in the entire Orthodox Church, venerated with particular devotion on the island of Corfu where his incorrupt relics rest and where he is considered the supreme protector and patron of the island and its people. Born around 270 AD on the island of Cyprus, he was a simple shepherd who led a life of extraordinary holiness and simplicity. He became Bishop of Trimythous in Cyprus and attended the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea in 325 AD where he confounded the pagan philosopher Eulogius with a demonstration of the doctrine of the Holy Trinity using a brick, from which fire, water and clay emerged simultaneously. His relics were translated to Corfu in 1456 where they have remained incorrupt to this day, preserved by God as a sign of his sanctity and as a source of countless miracles. The Corfiots carry his relics in solemn procession four times a year. His feast day is celebrated in December.
