Saint Simeon the Myrrh-Streaming Coffee Mug

Saint Simeon the Myrrh-streaming, venerated in the Orthodox Church as the Holy Myrrh-streaming Simeon, is one of the most remarkable and beloved saints of the Serbian people, glorified by God through the extraordinary and continuous streaming of fragrant myrrh from his holy relics, a miracle that has continued for over eight centuries and stands as one of the most enduring and well-documented miracles in the entire history of the Orthodox Church. Born Stefan Nemanja around 1113, he was the Grand Zhupan of Serbia, the founder of the Nemanjic dynasty that ruled Serbia for two centuries and oversaw the golden age of Serbian Orthodox civilisation, and the father of Saint Sava of Serbia. In his old age he abdicated his throne and followed his son Sava to Mount Athos where he was tonsured a monk with the name Simeon. Together with Saint Sava he founded the great Hilandar Monastery on Mount Athos. He reposed there in 1199 and from his relics myrrh began to flow immediately, a sign recognised by the Church as divine glorification. His feast day is celebrated in February and in October together with Saint Sava.

O holy myrrh-streaming Simeon, great king who became a humble monk for love of God, whose holy relics have poured forth fragrant myrrh for eight centuries as a sign of thy sanctity, intercede before the Lord for Serbia and for all who venerate thy holy memory. Amen.
