Saint Philip the Apostle Coffee Mug

The Holy Apostle Philip is one of the twelve apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, born in Bethsaida in Galilee, the same town as Peter and Andrew. He was called directly by Christ with the simple words follow me, and immediately went to find his friend Nathanael, telling him we have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the Prophets wrote. He is present at several significant moments in the Gospels, asking Christ to show us the Father at the Last Supper and directing the Greeks who wished to see Jesus. After Pentecost he preached the Gospel in Greece, Syria and Phrygia with great power, working miracles and drawing many to the faith. He was martyred by crucifixion in Hierapolis in Phrygia around 80 AD. His feast day is celebrated in November and the Apostles Fast, one of the four great fasting periods of the Orthodox year, begins in November the day after his feast.
