Saint Marina Margaret Black Coffee Mug

Saint Marina the Great Martyr, known in the Western Church as Saint Margaret of Antioch, is one of the most celebrated martyrs of the early Orthodox Church, venerated throughout the Christian world for her extraordinary courage, purity and powerful intercession. Born in Antioch of Pisidia in the late 3rd century to a pagan priest, she was raised by a Christian nurse after her mother's early death and came to faith in Christ as a young girl. When she refused the advances of the Roman prefect Olybrius and declared herself a Christian, she was subjected to horrific tortures including burning, drowning and the sword, enduring them all with miraculous strength and unwavering faith. According to tradition she overcame a demonic attack in the form of a dragon during her imprisonment. She was beheaded around 304 AD and is venerated as a great martyr and virgin. She is the patron saint of women in childbirth and of those falsely accused. Her feast day is celebrated in July.
