Saint John of Kronstadt Coffee Mug

Saint John of Kronstadt is one of the greatest and most beloved saints of the Russian Orthodox Church and one of the most remarkable priests in the entire history of Christianity, venerated throughout the Orthodox world for his extraordinary gifts of healing, clairvoyance, and his passionate, life-giving celebration of the Divine Liturgy. Born Ivan Ilyich Sergiev in 1829 in the village of Sura in Arkhangelsk province in northern Russia, he served his entire priestly life at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew in Kronstadt, the naval fortress island near Saint Petersburg. He became renowned for his daily celebration of the Divine Liturgy with enormous fervour, for his practice of general confession with thousands of people simultaneously, for his healing of the sick in their thousands and for his boundless charity to the poor of Kronstadt whom he served tirelessly. He received people from all over Russia who came seeking his prayers and counsel. He was also a prolific writer and his spiritual diary My Life in Christ is one of the classics of Orthodox spiritual literature. He reposed in January 1908 and was glorified as a saint in 1990. His feast day is celebrated in January.
