Saint Constantine the Great Coffee Mug
The Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Emperor Constantine the Great is one of the most significant figures in the entire history of Christianity and the first Christian Roman Emperor. Born around 272 AD, Constantine won a decisive victory at the Battle of Milvian Bridge in 312 AD after seeing a vision of the Cross in the sky and hearing the words In this sign conquer. He issued the Edict of Milan in 313 AD, granting religious tolerance throughout the Empire and ending centuries of Roman persecution of Christians. He convened the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea in 325 AD, which defined the Orthodox faith regarding the divinity of Christ. He founded the city of Constantinople as the new Christian capital of the Empire, which became the heart of Orthodox Christian civilisation for over a thousand years. He is venerated as Equal-to-the-Apostles and his feast day is celebrated in June together with his mother Saint Helen.
"In this sign, conquer." (Vision of Constantine before the Battle of Milvian Bridge)
O holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Emperor Constantine, protector of the Church and champion of the true faith, who by thy victory granted peace to the people of God, intercede before the Lord for all Orthodox Christians and for the peace of the holy Church. Amen.
This mug makes a meaningful gift for baptisms, name days, feast days, Easter, Christmas or any occasion where the history and triumph of the Orthodox faith is honoured.
