Saint Basil of Ostrog Orthodox Christian Coffee Mug
Saint Basil of Ostrog is the greatest and most beloved saint of Montenegro and one of the most venerated wonder-workers in the entire Orthodox world, whose incorrupt relics rest in Ostrog Monastery carved into the cliff face in Montenegro and draw hundreds of thousands of pilgrims every year from across the Balkans and beyond. Born Stojan Jovanovic around 1610 in the village of Mrkonjici near Trebinje in present-day Bosnia and Herzegovina, he was tonsured a monk and later became Bishop of Zahumlje and Herzegovina, working tirelessly for the spiritual and physical welfare of his flock under the difficult conditions of Ottoman rule. He reposed in Ostrog Monastery in 1671 and his body was found incorrupt when the tomb was opened, which the Church recognised as a sign of divine glorification. His relics continue to this day to pour forth healing grace upon all who approach with faith, regardless of their religious background, making Ostrog one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in the entire Balkans. His feast day is celebrated in May and May.
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." (Matthew 7:7)
O holy hierarch Basil of Ostrog, great wonderworker and healer of Montenegro, whose incorrupt relics pour forth grace without ceasing, intercede before the Lord for all who come to thee in their need and for all the faithful people of Montenegro and the Balkans. Amen.
This mug makes a deeply meaningful gift for baptisms, name days, Montenegrin Orthodox feast days, Easter, Christmas or any occasion where the wonder-working holiness of the saints of the Balkans is honoured.
