Saint Angelina of Serbia Orthodox Christian Coffee Mug

Saint Angelina of Serbia, known as the Holy Mother Angelina, is one of the most beloved saints of the Serbian Orthodox Church, venerated as the mother of the Serbian royal saints and as a great protectress of the Serbian people in their most difficult historical hour. Born around 1440 to the Albanian nobleman George Arianiti, she married the Serbian Despot Stefan Brankovic, a blind nobleman of the royal Brankovic dynasty who was himself later glorified as a saint. Together with her husband and her sons she endured exile from Serbia following the Ottoman conquest, wandering through Albania, Italy and Hungary before eventually finding refuge in the court of King Matthias Corvinus of Hungary. She dedicated herself to the care of her family, to prayer and to the preservation of Serbian Orthodox identity in exile. After her husband's repose she took monastic vows and continued her work of gathering Serbian relics and protecting her people. She reposed around 1520 and her feast day is celebrated in August. She is known as the Mother of the Brankovices and is venerated together with her husband and sons as a family of saints.
