Saint Andrew the First-Called Coffee Mug

The Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called is one of the most celebrated of the twelve apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ and the first to be called to follow Him, earning him the title Protokletos, the First-Called. Born in Bethsaida in Galilee, he was a fisherman and a disciple of Saint John the Baptist before he heard John point to Christ and say behold the Lamb of God. He immediately followed Christ and then brought his brother Simon Peter to the Lord. He preached the Gospel throughout Scythia, Asia Minor, Greece and along the Black Sea coast, and is venerated as the founder of the Church of Constantinople and the patron saint of Scotland, Romania, Russia and Ukraine among others. He was martyred in Patras, Greece, around 60 AD by crucifixion on an X-shaped cross, now known as the Cross of Saint Andrew, choosing this form as he considered himself unworthy to die on a cross of the same shape as his Lord. His feast day is celebrated in December.
