Ostrog Monastery Orthodox Christian Coffee Mug
Ostrog Monastery in Montenegro is one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in the entire Balkan region and one of the most remarkable monasteries in the Orthodox world. Built into a sheer vertical cliff face at an altitude of 900 metres in the 17th century by Saint Basil of Ostrog, the monastery appears almost miraculous in its construction, as though carved directly from the living rock. Saint Basil of Ostrog reposed there in 1671 and his incorrupt relics remain in the monastery to this day, drawing hundreds of thousands of pilgrims each year, both Orthodox Christians and people of other faiths, all seeking healing and intercession. The monastery is divided into two parts, the Upper Monastery built into the cliff and the Lower Monastery below, both surrounded by extraordinary natural beauty.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
O holy hierarch Basil of Ostrog, great wonderworker and healer, whose holy relics pour forth grace upon all who approach with faith, intercede before the Lord for all who venerate thy holy monastery and seek thy powerful intercession. Amen.
This mug makes a deeply meaningful gift for baptisms, name days, Montenegrin Orthodox feast days, Easter, Christmas or any occasion where faith and healing are sought and celebrated.
