Nativity of the Theotokos Orthodox Christian Black Coffee Mug
The Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos is one of the Twelve Great Feasts of the Orthodox Church, celebrated in September, and the first of the great feasts in the Orthodox liturgical year which begins in September. The feast commemorates the miraculous birth of the Virgin Mary to her elderly and previously barren parents, the holy and righteous Joachim and Anna, who had prayed for a child for many decades and were answered by God in their old age as a sign of His grace. The birth of the Most Holy Theotokos is understood in Orthodox theology not merely as a family event but as a cosmic moment, the beginning of the fulfilment of God's plan of salvation, for she who was born on this day would become the dwelling place of the Uncontainable God and the door through which He would enter human history. The feast is preceded by a one-day fast and marks the beginning of the new liturgical year with great joy.
"Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb." (Luke 1:42)
O Most Holy Theotokos, whose holy nativity brought joy to the whole world and prepared the way for the salvation of mankind, intercede before thy Son for all who celebrate thy holy birth and for all who call upon thee as their heavenly Mother. Amen.
This mug makes a beautiful gift for baptisms, name days, the Feast of the Nativity of the Theotokos, Easter, Christmas or any occasion where devotion to the Mother of God is expressed and celebrated.
