The greatest Montenegrin literary figure, Prince-Bishop Petar II Petrovic-Njegos, author of the Mountain Wreath, was himself a man of deep Orthodox faith whose poetry reflects the profound spiritual and existential questions of the Orthodox Christian tradition. The holy wonderworker Saint Basil of Ostrog, whose incorrupt relics draw pilgrims from across the Balkans, is the supreme heavenly patron and protector of Montenegro and its people.
