Archangel Barachiel Orthodox Christian Coffee Mug

The Holy Archangel Barachiel is one of the seven archangels who stand before the throne of God, venerated in the Orthodox Christian tradition as the angel of blessings, the heavenly messenger who carries and distributes God's blessings to humanity and who intercedes before God for all who seek His grace and favour. His name in Hebrew means blessing of God or God has blessed, and he is depicted in Orthodox iconography holding white roses against his breast or scattered with rose petals on his garments, symbolising the showers of divine blessings that he brings from God to those who are open to receive them. He is understood as the special patron of families, of those who seek God's blessing upon their homes, their marriages, their children and their daily lives, and as the angel who accompanies and blesses all who begin new undertakings in the name of God. He is also venerated as a powerful intercessor for those who pray for good fortune, for the blessing of their work and for the prosperity that comes from God's grace rather than from human striving alone. He is commemorated together with all the holy Bodiless Powers at the Synaxis in November.
