The Wood

Each icon is crafted onto a solid birch wood panel, a material with centuries of history in Orthodox iconography. The natural grain of the wood breathes through the lighter areas of the icon, giving each piece a warmth and character no other surface can offer. No two panels are identical. Any two icons are not the same.

The Halo

The gold halo is hand-embossed. Physically raised from the surface of the wood. You can feel it with your fingertip. The gold catches light beautifully against the matte finish of the face and robes.

The Frame

Your icon arrives ready to hang in your choice of two handmade frames, both crafted in the UK.

• Ornate Gold: a richly detailed baroque frame in antique gold, the natural home for a Byzantine icon
• Walnut and Gold: a warm, dark walnut frame with a gold inner slip, for those who prefer something quieter but equally considered

Both frames are fitted with shatterproof glazing and arrive ready to hang.

The Personalisation

Add a name, a feast day and a parish in raised gold lettering set into the border. Not added on top, part of the icon itself. A permanent mark that makes this piece belong to one person.
