Every icon starts as raw birch, cut and shaped by hand before the image ever touches the wood. The design itself is drawn from Orthodox Church tradition, then brought to life by our craftsmen and parishioners in the workshop. Not stamped out, made. Once the icon is finished, we seal it with a Museum Wax layer for depth and protection, then set it into its frame ourselves before it's wrapped and sent on its way to you.

Saint Seraphim entered monastic life at the Sarov Monastery in central Russia, where he embraced increasingly severe ascetic discipline over the following decades, including a period of complete solitude in the surrounding forest and, according to tradition, a thousand nights spent in continuous prayer upon a large stone. He was once savagely beaten by robbers who broke into his hermitage seeking valuables he did not possess, an attack that left him permanently stooped for the remainder of his life, yet he forgave his attackers entirely and asked that no punishment be sought against them once they were caught. In his later years he became renowned throughout Russia for spiritual counsel, healing, and prophetic insight, receiving thousands of pilgrims with a gentleness that left a deep impression on all who came to him, and he is remembered for his teaching that whoever acquires inward peace will, by that peace alone, become a means of salvation for many others around them.

O holy Father Seraphim, who didst acquire the peace of the Holy Spirit and forgive even those who did thee harm, intercede for us, that we too may become bearers of that same peace to all around us. Amen.
