Both Prince Lazar and Sultan Murad were killed in the battle. Before the battle Lazar is said to have gathered his knights for a Eucharistic liturgy and to have offered them the choice between the earthly kingdom and the heavenly kingdom. The Serbian people chose the heavenly kingdom. Lazar was captured and beheaded and his relics were later glorified by God through miracles.
