Struck with sudden awareness of her unworthiness, she fell to the ground in tears before an icon of the Theotokos and prayed with her whole heart. The way was then opened to her and she heard a voice directing her across the Jordan. She spent the remaining forty-seven years of her life alone in the desert in total repentance and prayer, and was discovered by the monk Zosimas who gave her Communion before her repose.
